The software is $24.95, and their website has been brought to its knees by recent press, so you can download it from Apple's site if you can't reach it the official way. Inklet requires Snow Leopard to work, so if you're running anything pre-10.6, you're out of luck. It's not as big or probably as sensitive as a commercial Wacom tablet, but just for doodling and messing around, it's a much cheaper solution. Unfortunately, the trackpad doesn't have sensitivity built-in (it can only tell when you're touching, not how hard you're pushing), but with Ten One's Pogo Sketch stylus, which I presume sends pressure information back to your Macbook somehow, you can get that "line thickness" functionality - press harder for a thicker line, or less for a thinner line. The program uses the multitouch trackpad interface to sense where and when you're touching the pad, and then translates that into "drawing" marks just like a Wacom pen tablet. Luckily, if you want to give the app a try, Magic is available for free on the Mac App Store. The developer told 9to5Mac that he’s already working on new features for the app, including the ability to add and rearrange multiple layers in a single project. The drawings can be exported as regular images so you can share them anywhere. There are also four different background options, including lines and squares. Users can change the color, size and opacity of the brush.

Of course, as you might guess, the app is not focused on professional use since there’s no way to use an Apple Pencil on the Mac’s trackpad to make precise drawings. Magic is a new macOS app created by young developer João Gabriel, who’s one of the winners of Apple’s WWDC Swift Student Challenge. But if you still want to have some fun with your Mac’s trackpad, “Magic” will give you just that. Although Apple offers some options for users to sign documents using just the trackpad, there’s no feature to draw anything you want.
